Rick's latest idea to get home is for them to build a raft. He figures the swamp must empty out into a river which will take them to an ocean and civilization. The first half of the thought is indeed correct as they are able to find a river. However, they approach a waterfall, which they just manage to avoid, but which their raft does not survive. Through a hole in the cliff wall, they are brought into a series of tunnels. In the previous experiences, a series of tunnels generally means the presence of Sleestak. What, or more precisely who they find in the tunnels however is Jefferson Davis Collie III, an old Confederate soldier.
